Here is how to terminate your rental agreement, whether you are a landlord or tenant.
As a Tenant
- Check the notice period in your agreement (usually 1-3 months)
- Write a written notice with your name, property address, and desired move-out date
- Send the notice to the landlord
- Save a copy for your own records
As a Landlord
- Check the notice period and any security of tenure. 2. Private rental law: 3 months notice. 3. Notice must be in writing and motivated.
Important to Know
Notice takes effect from the month after it is received. Both parties have obligations during the notice period. The property should be left in good condition.
