If your tenant does not pay the rent, there are clear steps to follow.
Step 1: Reminder
Contact the tenant and remind them about the payment. Sometimes it's just a misunderstanding. Give a reasonable deadline (5-7 days).
Step 2: Written Payment Request
Send a written demand for payment. Specify the amount and due date. Inform about the consequences of non-payment.
Step 3: Debt Collection
If the tenant still does not pay, send the case to debt collection. A debt collection company will take over the recovery.
Step 4: Termination
If the rent is more than one week overdue, you can terminate the lease agreement. The tenant has the right to reclaim the rental apartment by paying within 3 weeks.
Prevention
Always review the tenant's finances before the agreement. Ask for references. Use verified tenants on Bofrid.
